Samsung and TomTom bring TomTom maps and location content to the Wave 3 smartphone. As a result of the partnership, the Wave 3 allows users to access TomTom’s premium information including navigation, search and find. I don’t know how good the TomTom map in comparison with Google Map, but the TomTom global map coveres over 200 countries with 35 million kilometers of road network. And in addition to the boring 2D maps, the TomTom map also features 3D City Maps and 3D Landmarks that offer a visual orientation aid. Sound good?
We know that location-based content and applications are increasingly important to us, that’s why GPS feature are playing a big role in the smartphone world. In my opinion, we won’t need a dedicated personal GPS device sometime in near future, thanks to the smartphones that already include built-in GPS functionality out of the box.
